About Us

The practice was established in 1958 and is one of the oldest PM&R physician practices in Hillsborough County. We are proud of our history in serving the rehabilitation needs of the Tampa Bay community for over 60 years, and the background and expertise of our physicians.

What is Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R)?

PM&R, or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation—also known as physiatry—is a specialized field of medicine focused on helping patients improve and restore functional ability and overall quality of life. It centers on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions that limit movement, performance, or daily activities due to injury, illness, or chronic conditions.

Physicians in this specialty, often referred to as rehabilitation physicians, take a comprehensive and individualized approach to care. Treatment plans may include medications, targeted exercise programs, physical therapies, and minimally invasive procedures such as injections when appropriate. Education and patient-centered care are key components of the process.

PM&R specialists commonly treat individuals with neuromuscular and musculoskeletal conditions, whether acute or chronic, and those recovering from injuries or managing long-term disabilities. Their primary goal is to help patients regain independence and function across all aspects of life—physical, emotional, social, and vocational.

Often recognized as the “quality of life” specialty, physiatry continues to grow in importance as it addresses the evolving needs of an active and aging population, focusing on non-surgical solutions that support long-term health and well-being.
